About DIY Mitzvah
When planning my son’s bar mitzvah, I decided to do everything from the invitations to the centerpieces (and everything in between) myself.
Coming from a graphic design and printing background, I had the necessary skills but was surprised to discover how few resources were out there for parents looking to “design on a dime” their child’s bar or bat mitzvah but still have that impressive “non-glue gun” look.
Not to knock glue guns. My mom designed some amazing ballerina bunnies that were attached to wicker chairs via hot glue gun for my bat mitzvah, which was par for the course in the 1990s.

The bar and bat mitzvah scene has really changed over the years. These days, anything goes. From having a mitzvah celebration at an indoor trampoline park to a party that is larger than life - it’s up to you to decide what makes the most sense for your family.

Personally, I really struggled to find easy solutions for certain items like centerpieces, the candlelighting ceremony, sign-in board, etc. that were simple, affordable, yet still had that WOW factor. It was a LOT of work, but in the end, it all came together nicely.
Fast forward 2 years, and I began planning my daughter’s bat mitzvah. After running into the same roadblocks, I decided to execute on the idea that had been bouncing around in my head for so long. Sketching ideas for unique products was the easy part. Having the prototypes manufactured took several attempts, but they are finally ready, and I couldn’t be prouder of the final products.
Please take a look at our product lineup, which will be expanding in the coming months. Looking for a specific bar or bat mitzvah product or custom solution that you don’t see on our website? Reach out and we may be able to help.
A PORTION OF ALL PROCEEDS ARE DONATED TO THE ADL

According to a 2025 survey, 20% of Jews have decided not to wear something distinctively Jewish such as a Star of David. The report also shows that over 50% say they have experienced some type of antisemitism in the past year. As an American Jewish born Gen Xer, this is something I never thought we’d experience in our lifetime. For this reason, 10% of net profits of products sold through DIYmitzvah.com will be donated to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to help protect the Jewish community and combat antisemitism.
